Ralph M. Hoffmann, DMD, FACP
Dr. Hoffmann received his DMD from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine in 1985, having also received his BS from the same university. After practicing as a general dentist in central Massachusetts while his wife finished her graduate work, he entered a residency program in Prosthodontics at Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia’s School of Dentistry. Upon completion of his residency Dr. Hoffmann was asked to join the faculty in the Department of Prosthodontics at MCV. He spent ten years at MCV, two years as a full-time assistant professor, and the rest as a part-time assistant clinical professor in the undergraduate, Advanced Education General Dentistry, and the Graduate Prosthodontics departments. Twice, he received the award ‘Clinical Instructor of the Year’ while teaching at MCV. He also maintained a private practice limited to prosthodontics in Williamsburg, Virginia during his eight years as a part-time professor.
Board Certification, the highest level of professional certification attainable in each and any recognized medical/dental specialty, was completed and achieved in 1995. Recertification occurs every ten years, supported by annual and cumulative continuing education. This makes Dr. Hoffmann a Fellow in the American College of Prosthodontists as officiated by the American Board of Prosthodontics. He serves as president of the North Carolina section of the ACP.
In 1998, an opportunity was presented to Dr. Hoffmann to join an established prosthodontic practice in Charlotte, under the ownership of Dr. Robert A. Rucho. Partnership was established in 2001 as Robert A. Rucho, DDS, Ralph M. Hoffmann, DMD, P.A. As of today, this office, as it has evolved into Ralph M. Hoffmann, DMD, P.A. has been serving the Charlotte area close to 40 years. Charlotte has been good to us, giving us a challenging level of business. POC-Charlotte is a trademarked patient care model that we will be developing to better serve the prosthodontic patient and the other dental professionals that serve those patients.
Dr. Hoffmann also continues his love of academics, serving as an Adjunct Clinical Professor at UNC School of Dentistry Department of Graduate Prosthodontics in Chapel Hill. This gives him the opportunity to serve the students as well as keeping his finger on the cusp of the latest developments in Prosthodontics. The Graduate Program is recognized as one of the finest and most innovative in the country.
Dr. Hoffmann and his wife, high school sweetheart Dianne, are active parents of four achieving children. They have many interests shared with their children, but the two of them alone love to cook and share a fine meal together!
Jessica Potts, CDA
Welcome to our practice! Being part of the dental field has been a dream of mine since I was 10 years old. I have been blessed to be Dr. Hoffmann’s dental assistant since 2002.
My training to become a Certified Dental Assistant was completed in 1999 at Manatee Technical Institute in Bradenton, Florida. I continue to keep my certification current yearly through completing continuing education hours required through the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Being at the top level of our training and certification at Prosthodontics of the Carolinas is a group emphasis. I have a wide range of job duties that include; assisting during procedures, ordering supplies, assist with scheduling, insurance benefits/claims, lab coordination, and lab duties. You will find our doctors ready to listen, educate, and explain. I enjoy working with Dr. Hoffmann because of the compassion and honesty he displays in interactions with our patients and staff. Natural perfection is the goal.
Being the wife of a police officer, Tony, and a mother of two girls, Natalee and Lydia, my schedule outside my dental world is also quite busy. Add to that a sweet 4-year-old chocolate Golden-doodle, Zane, and you’ve got the makings of exciting family times! Outside of work and school studies with the children, we enjoy spending our time together as a family, shopping, cooking, and music.
Barbie Patterson, CDA
Hi, my name is Barbie and I have 23 years of experience as a dental assistant. I graduated, Dean’s List, from Alamance Community College in 1992. I absolutely love what I do. I’m fueled by my opportunities to provide information, care, and quality service to each patient. Working with dental implants is both challenging and rewarding. Each case is different. Dr. Hoffmann is committed to the best care, procedures, and techniques that the world of prosthodontics has to offer. There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation and quality work.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music, and working in my yard.
Debbie Stout, Administration
Welcome to our website. I grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Our family moved to Charlotte in 1989, and I have raised my children here. I love working with this wonderful and talented group of people. I love watching lives transformed by the care and treatment that we strive to provide, and I love receiving calls from patients who have not been able to eat their favorite food for years and now they are able to! I value the mission and vision that Dr. Hoffmann has for our patients and employees. My goal is for our patients to experience the highest level of care that we can provide to them and to that end, I am here to help.
In addition to spending time with my family and friends, I enjoy traveling, entertaining, and hiking.
Kimberly Petrea, Lab Technician
Hello! I am Dr. Hoffmann’s lab technician,. I have actually been with this practice for longer than he has. I attended CPCC, and as soon as I was finished in 1990, I came to work here for the founding dentist.
I absolutely love what I do here. I also love for whom I do it, patient and dentist alike. Dr. Hoffmann is, unequivocally, the most caring and talented dentist I know. When I am not helping out here, I enjoy spending time with friends and family.
