A complete or partial denture provided by Prosthodontics of the Carolinas is created to conform to the unique shape of the underlying periodontal structure as well as the contours of the related teeth in your bite pattern. This attention to detail will allow the oral appliance to fit comfortably in your mouth while restoring the basic function of your missing teeth.

Even though your denture will not be vulnerable to tooth decay, it will still need some daily care and good oral hygiene habits. Maintaining the health of the underlying gums and the surrounding natural teeth will also help the removable oral appliance to fit comfortably in your mouth.

You should never sleep with your denture in your mouth. Each night you should give it a thorough rinse under running water. It’s important to keep in mind that the denture will be slippery when wet, so it may be helpful to fill the sink with water to reduce the risk of damage from an accidental drop.

After you have rinsed away any plaque and residual denture adhesive you can lightly brush the denture with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a small amount of denture polish. Once you are done cleaning the denture you should soak it in some denture solution and store it away in a drawer or the medicine cabinet.

Make sure to brush and floss any remaining natural teeth. If you have a partial denture, you should also remember floss the gumline of the two teeth adjacent to the void.

If you are the Charlotte, North Carolina, area and you have an issue with your complete or partial denture, you should call 704-364-3770 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ralph Hoffmann and the staff at Prosthodontics of the Carolinas.
